St.
Patrick Mission was founded in October 1885 in Bristol, Illinois. The
original church served this community until April of 2000, when the
parish community left the Bristol church and moved services to its parish
center located in nearby Yorkville, Illinois. For two years, the parish
center served this community as the temporary worship facilities while
the new church was being built. Since 1885, St. Patrick was a mission
church in the Joliet, Illinois Diocese. On February 15, 2002, the Most
Rev. Bishop Joseph Imesch DD, Bishop of Joliet-in-Illinois dedicated
the newly constructed church. At the dedication mass, he announced that
St. Patrick was officially being designated a parish, thus shedding
its 117-year status as a mission. At that same mass, Bishop Imesch also
announced the assignment of Rev. Jerome A. Zalonis, MIC (Father Jerry)
as founding pastor of St. Patrick Parish.
Father
Jerry is assisted by Rev. Mr. Dale R. Metcalfe, Rev. Mr. Don Cyr and
Rev. Mr. Dave English, the parish deacons, Sister Kathyryn Frankovich,
OSF, the director of religious education and an office staff headed
by Janice Watson, office manager.
St.
Patrick Parish is very progressive and this is shown in our style of
worship, praise and community involvement. The parish sponsors numerous
ministries with approximately 600 volunteer positions filled by our
parish members. Located in the Fox Valley, approximately 45 miles southwest
of Chicago, St. Patrick is situated in a high-growth area.
The
Religious Education program at St. Patrick is second to none. All catechists
are certified by the Joliet Diocese and under the direction of Sister
Kathryn, our children are well educated.
The
worship experience at St. Patrick is also first-rate. The worship is
highlighted by an excellent music program. St. Patrick currently sponsors
a children's choir, teen choir, adult choir and funeral choir.
